At 3:00 pm, the Vice President attended the “Jesse M. Robredo: His Story” Biography Launchin Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City. The event was organized by the Jesse M. Robredo Foundation (JMRF) in partnership with Synergeia Foundation. JMRF is an organization established by friends and relatives of the late DILG Sec. Jesse Robredo in pursuit of continuing his legacy of genuine public service through good governance. Their partner, Synergeia Foundation is a coalition of local governments, socio-civic groups, and various sectors that implements programs to improve basic education among schoolchildren in the country.

In her message, the Vice President talked about Sec. Jesse’s admirable and simple lifestyle as a government official. She also emphasized that his life should serve as a lesson for other government officials to maximize their time to make a difference in society. “Jesse’s short life and his death is a reminder to us as elected leaders, government workers, and public servants that our time to serve is fleeting and swift, ‘di ba? Sandali lang tayong binibigyan ng pagkakataon, and that not everyone is given this privilege. Totoo naman, ‘di ba? It is a privilege to serve. Maraming gustong sumubok, pero hindi nabibigyan ng pagkakataon. So the challenge for us is: How do we maximize this short time that is given to us for us to be able to give our all and to really make a difference? So ito pong librong ito, we hope that this book may inspire you—inspire us—to be better Filipinos as Jesse’s life has inspired us all.”
