Interview at the Philippine Retail Investors Conference

    19 November 2016

SMX Taguig Convention Center, Taguig City

Question: Initial reaction noong nalaman niyo na the burial will push through yesterday?

VP Leni: Ako stunned ako eh, parang we knew that it was going to happen pero hindi na-imagine na it would be conducted hurriedly at patago. Iyong sa akin lang parang insulto yata iyon sa Filipino people.

Mayroon tayong prosesong sinunod at hinihintay natin iyong motion for reconsideration, hindi pa final and executory.

Parang ang pakiramdam lang dinaya tayo all over again.

Question: You and the president are both lawyers sabi po niya he was following the legal process, can you comment on this?

[Ed: The OVP hasn’t filed any MR.]

Question: Are there any government programs on financial literacy?

VP Leni: Marami actually. I can only talk about the programs of the Office of the Vice President. When we launched Angat Buhay last October 10 and we are partnering local communities with private institutions for financial literacy.

Tingin natin there is a huge gap na talagang may vacuum ngayon. Most of the very poor Filipinos, poor farmers, poor fisherfolk walang acccess to financial institutions.

Kaya iyong ni-lilink natin sa kanila kabahagi doon iyong financial literacy kasi tingin natin it is the only way na puwede sila mag-compete sa ibang mas nakaaangat sa kanila.
