Vice President Leni Robredo reiterated that contractualization must end in the Philippines, as she pushes anew for just and fair working conditions for Filipino laborers.

In her message for this year’s Labor Day, VP Leni urged Filipinos to unite in the call to stop “endo,” or the end of contract employment scheme in the Philippines—a call she has been making even before assuming the vice presidency.

“Ngayong Mayo Uno, magkaisa tayo na wakasan na ang endo at kontraktuwalisasyon,” Robredo said on Twitter.

A public interest lawyer who spent years helping marginalized sectors, including labor groups, VP Leni also underscored the importance of upholding the welfare of Filipino workers, who she has honored for their contributions to the country’s economy and to society.

On Wednesday, she said: “Itaguyod ang ligtas, marangal, at regular na trabaho para sa manggagawang Pilipino.”

VP Leni has repeatedly pushed for security of tenure for Filipino workers, continuously urging the government to revisit reforms that are meant to strengthen their rights.

She has also urged for an inclusive discussion with both workers and employers, as she joined those calling on the administration to fulfill its promise to end contractualization.
