National Artist BenCab, Over 100 Artists Stand with Leni Robredo in Virtual Exhibit

National Artist BenCab, Over 100 Artists Stand with Leni Robredo in Virtual Exhibit

The works of over 100 visual artists, including one by National Artist Ben Cab, are part of a virtual group exhibition to support the candidacy of presidential aspirant Leni Robredo.

The show, “Mas Radikal ang Magmahal,” online at www.radikal.ph, is a “strong collective statement of support from the creative community,” says organizer Gigo Alampay. He says that months before the Vice President made her decision, he had already reached out to her office to say that should she decide to run, he would make sure “the artists were standing beside her.”

Participating in the show are artists who work with different materials who are at different points in their careers, from up and coming to established, all eagerly doing this for Robredo.

“Hers is a brand of leadership that stands in stark contrast to what we have now. It is one defined by example, competence and incorruptibility,” says Alampay. “It is the only one today that is genuinely worthy of our children, our country, and our future.”

BenCab’s depiction of the Philippine flag, titled “Fragile and Strong”, made in 2014, is featured in radikal.ph.

Writer Butch Dalisay’s brief essay on what it means to be “radical” accompanies the artworks.

Alampay says he’s still getting messages from other artists who want to participate. He says the website is “still a work in progress,” and the group plans to add selected works as they’re submitted.

“Together, they offer a sincere and committed statement of support for Leni's vision of a more just and humane society, and affirm a collective belief in her capacity to deliver on that promise,” Alampay said. [End]

“Hers is a brand of leadership that stands in stark contrast to what we have now. It is one defined by example, competence and incorruptibility,” ani Alampay. “It is the only one today that is genuinely worthy of our children, our country, and our future.”

“Together, they offer a sincere and committed statement of support for Leni's vision of a more just and humane society, and affirm a collective belief in her capacity to deliver on that promise,” sabi ni Alampay. [End]
