At 8:00 am, the Vice President went to Tondo, Manila for the Metro LaylayanVisit (MLV). MLV is a series of engagements with communities in Metro Manila, which aims to bring the Vice President closer to the people. During this visit, she had the opportunity to hear their stories of how the daily struggles of the members of the community and bring aid to them. Tondo was identified as the 9thMetro Manila partner community for this MLV.
At 4:00 pm, the Vice President attended the General Assembly of Pangkalahatang Pagtitipon ng Kasapian at Katuwang ng Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka (PAKISAMA) in Tandang Sora, Quezon City. PAKISAMA is a national confederation of peasant organizations and is recognized as one of the leaders in the revitalization of the Philippine peasant movement especially in the pursuit of genuine agrarian reform, fishery reform, and rural development.
In her message, she emphasized that Filipinos must not give up in making their voices heard to force politicians to address their issues. “Para sa akin, iyon iyong challenge natin: Papaano natin mapapalakas iyong boses natin? Hindi puwedeng tayo-tayo lang.
Kasi mula noong umpisa hanggang ngayon, tayo-tayo lang din. Pero iyong nakikinig sa atin, kaunti. ‘Di ba? Mas marami iyong ayaw tayong pakinggan. Pero dapat gawin natin mahirap para sa mga nanunungkulan na hindi tayo pakinggan, at magiging mahirap iyon kapag malakas iyong boses natin.”
