Vice President Leni Robredo at the CNN Presidential Debate Second Part

Vice President Leni Robredo at the CNN Presidential Debate Second Part
University of Santo Tomas, Sampaloc, Manila

    [START]

PINKY WEBB: Okay. Ngayon alam po natin ang inyong saloobin hinggil sa ekonomiya, our next question is this: Should you win, who will be your health secretary and why? Let's start with Vice President Leni Robredo

VP LENI: Hindi ko po papangalanan, pero sigurado na ang health secretary, number one, expert in the field. Number two, napakahusay na manager dahil kailangan ito. Number three, respected by his peers or her peers. And number four, definitely hindi magiging political 'yung appointment.

Nakita po natin during the pandemic na kailangan natin ng isang Pangulo na talagang naglea-lead from the front. Kailangan ako mismo nakaka-alam ng lahat na nangyayari on the ground kasi wala po tayong panahon to spare during times of emergency. Kailangan 'yung lahat na nitty-gritty naaasikaso. Hindi dapat napapabayaan 'yung lahat na stakeholders dito sa laban natin against the pandemic. Marami pa pong puwedeng dumating in the years to come and dapat handa na tayo.

PINKY WEBB: Thank you Sir. When we return, pag-uusapan naman natin ang basic services, wages, and infrastructure development.

PIA HONTIVEROS: Nine candidates are here with us to answer your questions. We'll be back after a short break. This is CNN Philippines Special Presentation here live at the University of Sto. Tomas, stay with us.

    [BREAK]

PINKY WEBB: Welcome back, I'm Pinky Webb.

PIA HONTIVEROS: And I'm Pia Hontiveros.

PINKY WEBB: You're watching the CNN Philippines Presidential Debate 2022.

Infrastructure development is a major consideration for all of our presidential bets. We're not going to ask you to talk about your plans again dahil naitanong na po 'yan, but we need to dig a little deeper. Senator Pacquiao, ang sabi po niyo pagdating sa infra, more skyways for Manila. Vice President Leni Robredo, ikaw naman po ang sabi niyo, make roads for people and not cars.

PIA HONTIVEROS: Senator Ping Lacson, kayo naman, full implementation of the National Broadband Program but as we build more there is also going to be more traffic which is already a national problem.

The question is, how will you justify building more to the Filipino people who are already overwhelmed and tired of bumper to bumper traffic. This is a specific question for three candidates, let's hear first from Senator Manny Pacquiao.

PINKY WEBB: VP Leni, the question how you justify building more to the Filipino people.

PINKY WEB: Ang tanong po natin, it's a general question to everyone, how important are presidential debates?

'Yung number one ingredient din ng leadership aside from character is you show up in the most difficult times.

PINKY WEB: So this is the show of hands – show of hands candidates, specific to excess campaign funds. Which of you agree that unused campaign funds should be returned to donors? I’ll repeat the question: Which of you agree that unused campaign funds should be returned to donors?

    VP Leni: [Raises her hand]
