VP Leni heads to South Korea for int’l youth exchange program
Angat Buhay Youth Mindanao Summit winner to join Seoul event

Vice President Leni Robredo is set to leave for South Korea to speak before an international exchange program for the youth of Korea and other Southeast Asian nations.

VP Leni will deliver the keynote address for the launch of the second Asia Pacific Youth Exchange (APYE) in Seoul on Monday, August 13, upon the invitation of Hanyang University, which co-hosts the program alongside the Asian Development Bank and the Urban Youth Academy (UYA).

The exchange program aims to provide youth delegates the opportunity to hone their leadership skills through a simulation of policy formation and project execution that focuses on the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Vice President will also witness the launch of a grant from UYA and APYE Manila, which aims to fund future projects of alumni organizations of the Office of the Vice President’s Angat Buhay Youth program.

Joining VP Leni in the said trip are representatives from Youth for Peace Movement – Davao Oriental, which was named the top winner at last month’s Angat Buhay Youth Mindanao Summit.

The group’s winning proposal, “Bal’lay Duwaan: A Happy Hub for the Sons and Daughters of the New Peace Advocates (NPeaceA’s),” maps out the establishment of a transition shelter for children of rebel reformists in Davao Oriental.

The project hopes to assist these children in their reintegration to mainstream society, by providing “fun learning and psychosocial activities,” through a communal vegetable garden, a learning center, and a recreational area. The facility will cater to 20 “maximum disturbed children,” ages five to 12, every quarter.
